Highway 505 travels through the heart of Toledo and is considered one of the gateways to Mt. St. Helen. Toledo was officially incorporated October 18, 1892.
Toledo was named by Celeste Rochor after a pioneer side wheel paddle steamer operated by Captain Oren Kellogg, of the Kellogg Transportation Company. The Boat traveled the Cowlitz River through Toledo.
Although we our a small rural city police department, we are responsible for the safety and security of our citizens. One of our goals is to create a community that is a positive environment for living, working and raising a family. The benefits of a small community atmosphere allows the citizens to know the officers and the officers to know the citizens. This knowledge of the community by our officers allows a strong awareness when things are not right, when criminal activity maybe happening.
